The American Samoan delegate to the US Congress says President George Bush has signed a two-year extension of the tax credits for the territoriy's two canneries.

Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin says this comes after the measure was passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate.

He says he appreciates the President's support and he says this means American Samoa's tuna canneries can remain and invest in the territory.

The two canneries employ about 5,000 workers and are the dominant private sector employers.
