New Zealand Tongans form working group to help rebuild Nuku'alofa

Tonga's Prime Minister, Dr Feleti Sevele has endorsed the formation of a New Zealand based working group which will assist with the rebuilding of the island Kingdom.

The move to form the Group follows this months riots, which caused damage to the capital Nuku'alofa estimated to be in the hundreds of millions.

The working party was endorsed at a large community meeting organised by held in Auckland, where seven members from the Manakau City Council were elected .

A spokesperson, Will Illolahia, says while many of the youth are New Zealand born, pictures of their homeland being decimated provoked strong feelings.

Meanwhile Sir Barry Curtis, the mayor of Manukau, the city in New Zealand with the largest Pacific population, has offered help with town planning for Nuku'alofa's damaged business district.
