Solomons opposition chides PM for attacks on RAMSI

The Solomon Islands opposition leader, Fred Fono, has accused the prime minister, Manasseh Sogavare, of making every effort to smear the image of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands.

This comes after the prime minister lodged a complaint to police alleging incidents of prostitution involving local women and RAMSI personnel.

RAMSI has rejected the allegations, saying there is no evidence.

Mr Fono also says the review of RAMSI will soon give the government an opportunity to give its views on the mission.

He also says the frequent attacks on members of the police and RAMSI are the result of the government's attitude towards the law enforcement agencies.
