Fiji police are launching a major operation to recapture prison escapees and to arrest those involved in a recent series of violent crimes.
Teams will deployed throughout the country to try and locate prison escapers, and those involved in a string of home invasions, and recent violent robberies of taxi drivers and service stations.
Police say some of the home invasions have involved more than ten people.
They say this type of action is not only cowardly but reflects a growing lack of regard for life and property.
Police say that from time to time road blocks will be set up and they ask the public to be patient.
