The Australian Prime Minister John Howard has denied Australia played any role in a police raid on the office of his Solomon Islands counterpart, Manasseh Sogavare.
After arriving in Fiji today for the Pacific Islands Forum, Mr Howard said the action would have taken place under Solomons law with no involvement by Canberra.
He says a number of the police come from Australia including the police commissioner but he's acting as the head of the Solomon Islands' police force.
Mr Howard says the police commissioner doesn't take any instructions from his government, so any suggestion of Australian involvement is totally wrong.
The raid on Mr Sogavare's office on Friday was made to gather evidence about child sex suspect Julian Moti's clandestine journey from Papua New Guinea to the Solomons.
