Telecom Vanuatu says it plans to improve its telecommunication services in remote and rural areas.

The Daily Post quotes Telecom's managing director, Michel Dupuis, as saying that one of the major changes will be an extension of the mobile phone coverage to include remote locations.

Mr Dupuis says the company must find ways to enable users to charge their phones, and is planning to provide small solar panels to help with power.

He says Telecom has already installed a satellite dish for internet users and hopes to install six further dishes in other locations around Vanuatu.
