The French Polynesian assembly is due to meet today after yesterday's session was abandoned amid an anti-government blockade of Papeete by a union calling for lower prices.
Although the roadblocks are illegal, the French state, which is responsible for the freedom of movement has not intervened, leaving businesses closed and services disrupted.
The government has refused to hold talks with the union which is on an unlimited strike for a second day.
An assembly member of the ruling Union For Democracy, Sabrina Birk, several MPs bypassed the blockade by taking a boat and says today's sitting will go ahead.
"Today, we have no problem because if they don't arrive we have the proxy votes; it's no problem, we have our majority."
