Fiji's Attorney General refutes claims foreigners can buy and sell land

Fiji's Attorney General Qoriniasi Bale refutes claims that foreigners can buy and sell land in Fiji at will.

Fiji Live reports Mr Bale as saying that property sales are done on a willing buyer and willing seller basis but are still subject to the consent of the Minister for Lands.

There are fears that much of Fiji's freehold lands will be taken over by foreigners, leaving nothing to locals who cannot afford the high prices.

Mr Bale has also dismissed the number of properties being advertised and sold over the Internet, by saying the internet "exaggerated" sales.
