The Chief Financial Officer of American Samoa's LBJ Medical Centre, David Deprin is leaving the hospital at the end of his two year contract.
Mr Deprin has opted not to renew his contract.
Senior staff at the hospital say they are sad to see Mr Deprin leave as he had done so much to improve things at the Centre, not just the finances but also relationships between management and staff.
Another manager said Mr Deprin's most valuable trait in his view was that he asked for and listened to the views of employees.
He said often Mr Deprin was the only one at hospital board meetings to fight for the rights of employees.
