French police have arrested a man who had threatened to place a bomb at the French Polynesian assembly.
The arrest was made only hours after the unnamed Tahitian-speaking man phoned the assembly in Tahiti.
Police and firefighters arrived at the scene but staff on the premises were not evacuated while an assembly committee continued its work.
A French high commission official said it was decided to let work continue as not go give in to panic.
Initial media reports linked the call to a court case involving former members of the GIP intervention force.
