A solar powered internet service is now available in rural parts of Samoa's main island of Upolu .

The government's strategic plan is to bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas.

The pilot project, which provides computers that are powered by the sun, is running in Aleipata and Falealili.

A new Communications Center has been set up to provide internet, fax, telephone and copying services.

All of the equipment is solar powered so the village does not have to worry about expensive electricity bills.
