Ill health forces candidate's withdrawl from American Samoa House race

A candidate for the American Samoa House of Representatives election, Aliimau Jr Scanlan has withdrawn from the race.

Aliimau says ill health has forced him to pull out

He heads to New Zealand this weekend to undergo treatment for a heart condition.

He was one of three candidates vying for the Fagatogo seat.

The others are incumbent, House Speaker Matagi Ray McMoore and Leapai Sipa Anoai, the Fagatogo mayor.

Aliimau is a former chief of staff for Congressman Faleomavaega, and was a special assistant during the administration of the late Governor A.P. Lutali
