Samoa Polynesian Airlines pilot association supports cost cutting measures

Samoa's downsized Polynesian Airlines is continuing negotiations with the pilot association this week on how to meet a proposed plan to cut operating costs.

The pilot association's president, Peni Maiava, says the proposal is supported by the majority of members, but they hope the airline would not cut their salaries.

Mr Maiva says the meeting with the airline's chief executive last Friday was focused on how the association could help with cost cutting measures.

He says one option is for the pilots to do both the groundwork and fly the aircraft.
