Lawmakers in American Samoa have approved a 60,000 US dollar out of court settlement in a lawsuit against the government and the LBJ Medical Center.

The lawsuit was filed two years ago by Lynette and Roderick Atafua following the death of their newborn child and the parties agreed to the settlement.

Meanwhile, the Fono leadership has written to the governor asking him to forward another court order for review.

This second judgment orders the government to pay a 300,000-dollar judgment awarded to former prosecutor Virginia Gibbons.
