10:11 am on 25 August 2006

Three former Samoan beauty queens have formed a charitable organization catering for children.

Former Miss Teuila winners, Anita Jamieson, Saifaleupolu Tamasese and

current Miss Teuila, Falute Sauvao Vaauli are the forces behind the newly formed Tausala Samoa Charity Foundation.

Ms. Jamieson said their main focus is to help children who need urgent medical attention.

The trio have formed a partnership with the Ministry of Health and have arranged to make payments for the treatment of children to go directly to the ministry rather than to families or relatives,

The new charity will host a pre Teuila Festival Charity ball as their first major community fundraiser and have called on other ex beauty queens to join them.

Ms Tamasese said they are committed to helping children who have missed out on a normal childhood because of their health problems.
