The chairman of the state-owned Fiji Ports Corporation, Isimeli Bose, has resigned after leading a mob attack on the headquarters of Ba Provincial Holdings from where he was sacked as chief executive.

Bose says he resigned to save the government further embarrassment so he could concentrate on legal action against Ba Provincial Holdings.

Bose has been charged with unlawful assembly and forcible entry, and two counts of assault after he led a group of men armed with pinch bars and iron rods in an assault on his former company office on the evening of August the 4th.

Fiji's minister for public enterprises Savenaca Draunidalo, says he will appoint a new chairman of the Ports Corporation this week after consulting the prime minister.
