Telecom Fiji reduces some rates

10:25 am on 2 August 2006

Telecom Fiji Limited has reduced rates for medium distance intra-regional calls by almost 75% to just 7-US cents, the same as what it charges for local calls.

It has also reduced high speed internet charges from $26.50 US a month to $23.30 US a month. (In Fiji currency that is from $45 to $39.50)

Both rate reductions come into effect today (Tuesday) and have been brought about without Commerce Commission intervention.

The company's managing director, Joe Mar, says they hope to make up the loss in revenue with an increase in the volume of calls which they have the equipment to handle
