The Vanuatu government has endorsed emergency supplementary funding of almost 500,000 US dollars for 136 teachers who will take up vacant posts in primary schools.
The Daily Post newspaper says the funding will be good news for the many trainee teachers who have been unable to find jobs in local schools.
The paper says none of last years graduates from the Vanuatu Institute of Teachers Education have been able to find jobs because of limited vacancies and lack of money for schools to hire new teaching staff.
