Kiribati's Commission of Inquiry into the government's allocation of scholarships has been completed.

The Inquiry, headed by Tuvaluan national Tito Isala, was commissioned by the cabinet and its report is now with the President.

The probe was called for after 18 students were chosen for degree courses at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji last semester, despite failing the relevant selection criteria.

The commission's findings have not yet been made public, as the country is going through a week of public holidays to celebrate Independence Day.
