The Cook Islands netball team will travel to Fiji next month for a chance to qualify for one of two spots available to the World netball Cup tournament also in Fiji next year.

The Cook Islands had their trials this week under the watchful eye of new national coach Ana Noovao.

While there are just three teams contesting the two spots including, Papua New Guinea and Samoa, President Nan Pittman is quietly confident they will take one of the spots.

"We've got the potential there, we just need to be able to put them together, in the right places, but we're confident that we're going to qualify we will beat PNG."

The team will consist of players from New Zealand and the Cook Islands.
