American Samoa's Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin says Governor Togiola Tulafono's move to end Hawaiian Air's service to American Samoa is a serious issue.

The Governor asked the airline last week to withdraw and allow another carrier to fly the Honolulu to Pago Pago route.

Faleomavaega says he was surprised to hear that Governor Togiola had told the airline to pullout.

The congressman says he has several questions about the governor's actions.

"Questions about exactly if there is a plan underway. Or are we ready or prepared to bring in another airline, that's if Hawaii airline may decide later on to not service our people."

.

Meanwhile, Hawaiian Air says it does not plan to discontinue service to American Samoa.
