American Samoa's Governor Togiola Tulafono has asked Hawaiian Air to withdraw from the Honolulu to Pago Pago route.
The governor laid this out in a letter that has been delivered to Hawaiian Air President and CEO Mark Dunkerley.
The says the US Department of Transportation already has in place a procedure for the withdrawal to take place and he invited Hawaiian Air to do so now.
His invitation for the airline to withdraw is the latest in a series of letters between the governor and Mr Dunkerley.
The governor last month gave the airline a 45 day ultimatum to lower airfares, discontinue unfair and discriminatory fees and charges not applied to other destinations, or face an anti trust suit.
