Fiji's Conservative Alliance Matanitu Vanua party is to be revived to seek freedom for the coup front man, George Speight.
The party, which was formed by Speight's supporters and others involved in the coup, was dissolved earlier this year when most of its leading members joined the ruling SDL.
But the Fiji Sun reports that a former general secretary general of the party, Ropate Sivo, plans to re-register it with the Elections Office by June the 24th.
Mr Sivo says the revived Conservative Alliance would work to compensate the victims of the May 2000 coup.
He says in return they want freedom for Speight, the Naitasiri paramount chief jailed for life for inciting the November 2000 mutiny, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, and jailed soldiers of the Counter Revolutionary Warfare Unit who staged the coup and the mutiny.
Mr Sivo says they have served their terms and it is proper they are forgiven and given their freedom.
He says this is the only way reconciliation can be achieved and not through the multi-party cabinet and the High Court.
