Electricity has been partially restored to Niue after a fire destroyed the island's main power station six days ago.
A New Zealand plane arrived with a new generator and three engineers on Saturday.
Last night, some power was back on, providing basic services to the island's 600 homes.
The acting New Zealand High Commissioner in Niue, Heather Wright, says a second generator should be installed by the middle of the week.
She says until then residents are being asked to conserve power, amid fears the system may be overloaded.
"Instruments that draw a lot of power, for example fridges, freezers, ovens because there is a fear that the system may blow up if there is too heavy draw on the one generator."
Heather Wright says the cost of the new generators, and cabling is expected to be about half a million New Zealand dollars.
