The president of watchdog group Common Cause American Samoa, Dr Trudi Iuli-Sala, has been removed as a public member of the territory's Political Status Study Commission.
Dr Iuli-Sala and three other individuals were appointed late last year by Governor Togiola Tulafono as public members on the commission expected to convene soon to discuss the territory's future polical status.
But in a general memorandum dated May 23rd, governor Togiola Tulafono released the names of the new public members to the commission, but did not include Dr Iuli-Sala.
No explanation has been given as to why she has been dropped.
Togiola renamed Manu'a district governor Tufele Li'amatua and former cabinet member Minareta Thompson to the commission.
The two new appointees are former Senator Malepeai Setu and military veteran Mapu Jamias.
