Counting in Fiji's general election will continue throughout the night.

71 seats are at stake for a five-year term.

Walter Zweifel reports from Suva.

"There have been delays in the counting process but the supervisor of elections, Semesa Karavaki, is confident that all results will be in by Tuesday night. He has given a provisional turnout figure of 69 percent that he says could go as high as 78 percent, and preliminary figures from the Suva City Indian Communal seat say a staggering 97.98 percent of voters took part."
