Recount today in Samoa's Faletea west electoratereount in Samoa

The District Court in Samoa has accepted the request by one defeated MP and former Minister of Police for a recount of votes in his constituency.

The MP's request comes after the declaration of the general election result by the Head of State.

In the final count, the former Member of parliament for Faleata West, Ulu Vaomalo Ulu Kini, had 630 votes.

The successful candidate had won 795 votes, a total of 125 votes more.

The recount is scheduled to take place in the District court today.

The newly elected Independent Member of Parliament for Faleata West, Lealailepuleepule Rimoni Aiafi, says he is expecting more votes from the third count.
