Fiji's national carrier, Air Pacific, is reportedly poised to order five Boeing 787 Dreamliner passenger jet aircraft for service in the next decade.

Flight International magazine reports Air Pacific is set to announce an order for five so-called widebody aircraft- either Airbus A350s or Boeing 787s.

The chief executive of Air Pacific, John Campbell, is quoted as saying they are in the final stages of contracting, and the order will include a firm order for five widebodies and purchase rights for a further three aircraft, for delivery from 2011.

The magazine reports industry sources in Fiji and others close to the airline as saying Air Pacific appears to be intent on ordering 787s rather than A350s.
