Two weeks before the Samoa general elections, Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele is the only candidate running in the constituency of Lepa.

At this point the main opposition party, the Samoa Democratic United Party, the SDUP, does not have a candidate in this district.

Neither do the other three parties.

But the SDUP leader, Le Mamea Ropati, has indicated that by election day Tuilaepa will have an opponent.

The Samoa Observer reports that the candidate is in New Zealand but will be back in time for the March 17 deadline to enter the poll.

Tuilaepa has held the seat for Lepa for seven consecutive terms.
