4:25 pm on 2 March 2006

A representative of the Pacific Islands Forum Group has told the Commission on the Status of Women that more support is needed to advance women in the Pacific.

The 50th session for the Commission on the Status of Women is currently meeting in New York.

The Commission is focussing on the participation of women in development and their role in decision-making in all areas of society, from politics to business to media.

The Permanent Representative of Papua New Guinea to the United Nations, Robert Aisi, said in a speech today, that Pacific women weren't adequately being reflected in Asia Pacific reports.
