The acting police director in the Northern Marianas Captain Aniceto Ogumoro has been arrested for illegal possession of a firearm.
His brother, the Department of Public Safety's Range Master, Ambrosio Ogumoro, was also arrested.
Despite objections by the prosecution, both men were released on bail.
A local newspaper, The Marianas Variety, reports that Ambrosio Ogumoro is a weapons specialist and the Department of Public Safety's official armourer.
He is also in charge of the armoury unit and the firearm and criminal records section of the Department.
