Police in Solomon Islands are watching all exit points out of the country in their hunt for the former Fijian soldier who escaped immigration detention on Monday night in Honiara.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police media unit revealed the airport and sea exit points are being watched by police.

However they also admit that so far no one has reported any sighting of the escapee, 31-year-old Kinivuai Vakatawanavatu Sulua.

The man was part of a group of 12 former Fiji soldiers intent on illegally getting into neighbouring Bougainville.

The other 11 were deported from Honiara to Nadi on Tuesday.
