Tropical depression set to strengthen south of Samoas

Forecasters in Fiji are monitoring a tropical depression south of the Samoan archipelago and north of Niue.

The regional weather centre in Nadi says the depression is expected to strengthen over the next 48 hours, and the potential for the storm to become a tropical cyclone withing the next 24 hours is assessed as moderate.
