Tax experts say the Solomon Islands tax reform program is heading in the right direction.

Carson McNeill and Lee Burns, from the Suva based Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Centre, have just completed a two week visit to Solomon Islands, in which they consulted with finance officials over tax reform proposals.

The pair say the consistent message from their meetings is that taxes are too high, too complex and are applied unfairly.

They say tax reform can produce a simpler, fairer system which will help business and create more jobs.
