Three members of the Royal Solomon Islands police have been deployed to investigate last week's armed robbery on Ovau island in the Western Province.

The RSIP say eight Bougainvillean men crossed from Papua New Guinea and stole several radios, eight chainsaws, fuel and a motorised boat last Thursday.

One man was assaulted and police are still investigating the incident which took place at a logging

company.

The RSIP say they are viewing the incident as an isolated one, and are not linking any instability on Bougainville.
