Police in Samoa arrest murder suspects

Police in Samoa have charged two men from Faleatiu village in connection with a fatal attack on New Year's eve in neighboring Satapuala village.

The incident left one man dead, three children wounded , two homes burned to the ground and a school building trashed.

One of the suspects has been charged with murder while the other has been charged with party to murder.

The two were apprehended on Friday.

Police Commissioner Papalii Lorenese Neru has told the Samoa Observer that more suspects should be arrested over the next few days.

The three children who were wounded in the attack are recovering at the national hospital.
