Thousands return to homes after volcanic eruption in Vanuatu

Authorities in Vanuatu have confirmed all of the 3,000 people displaced by Ambae volcano last month have now gone back to their homes.

The disaster management office is awaiting fresh seismic data from scientists who've been monitoring Mount Manaro, where activity has subsided since an eruption in late November.

The volcano poisoned water sources with ash, prompting the New Zealand Red Cross to send a water desalination plant to supply people forced into relocation centres on the coast.
