Papua New Guinean MP suspended in car fraud probe

The Papua New Guinean MP Gallus Yumbui has been suspended from office.

The Post Courier newspaper reports Mr Yumbui is facing a tribunal under the Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership.

The Ombudsman Commission referred Mr Yumbui to the Public Prosecutor on November the 16th after it was satisfied there was a case against the MP.

Mr Yumbui is alleged to have spent 28,000 US dollars from the Gaming Control Board, on buying himself a vehicle.
