8:11 am on 3 December 2005

Fiji's auditor general has recommended that four immigration officers be investigated by police for fraud and corruption.

Fiji TV reports that the auditor general has named the four as Jioji Tikoitoga, Aisea Volau, Eroni Tuberi and Ajay Ram.

The audit report has cited a long list of offences by the four including tampering with files, the disappearance of files and collusion in the issuing of work permits to 11 Chinese nationals in suspicious circumstances.

The auditor general has recommended that the 11 Chinese nationals be deported.

The management of the Immigration Department says action is being taken to address the concerns.
