Fiji's prime minister says he does not make wild allegations but only when he has evidence.

Fiji TV reports that Laisenia Qarase was referring to his allegations of financial impropriety agianst Mr Chaudhry made in parliament this week.

They referred to the use of state funds to pay for improvements to his house, the whereabouts of funds collected in the Indian state of Hariyaya and an attempt to get a commission from the US$52 million loan to pay for the sugar industry reforms.

Mr Qarase said he will use the evidence to back his allegations when the time comes.

Mr Chaudhry hasn't denied the allegations, only saying the prime minister is "plain stupid" and should front up with the evidence if he has it.
