A Fiji hardware company has taken the minister for women, Adi Asenaca Caucau, to the Suva magistrate's court to recover a debt of 5-thousand-500 US dollars.

Radio Fiji reports that Adi Asenaca owed Suncourt Hardware the money for building materials she purchased in December 2003.

The case was called before magistrate John Semisi.

The company's lawyer, Deven Prasad, is quoted as saying talks are under way on how the cabinet minister will arrange to pay her debts.
