There's been a rush by Fiji citizens to enter their names in the United States Diversity Visa Lottery in order to gain American residency.
Since the US Congress introduced the Diversity Visa Lottery in 2001, over 4,000 Fiji residents have gained residency in the United States and migrated, in many cases with their families.
It opened yesterday and will close on December 4th.
The Lottery enables 50,000 people from countries around the world which are under-represented in the US population to have the chance to live and work in the United States every year.
