The Prime Minister of Samoa says he had the utmost respect for Su'a Atonio Su'a, the Opposition MP who was killed on Wednesday night in New Zealand.
Su'a was at a South Auckland house and police say they believe his death followed an altercation with another man.
A 47-year-old man has been charged with his murder and will reappear in court next week.
The Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele, says Su'a was a strong parliamentarian who made his presence felt in the house.
"One of the very few in the opposition bench, who speaks very well in terms of the issues discussed in parliament and he speaks very strongly on a number of issues that are very important, socially and economically."
Tuilaepa says the entire cabinet will attend the funeral of Su'a once arrangements are made known.
