Samoa government paper to get under PM's control

Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele, has ordered the government newspaper Savali to be returned to the control of his ministry.

The newspaper was previously under the Communication and Information Technology Ministry.

A letter from the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Auseugafa Poloma Komiti, dated September 28th says that the move was to take effect from October 1st and all staff and equipment were to be transferred back to the PM's office.

A former news editor of the Samoa Observer, Terry Tavita, is to be appointed assistant Chief Executive Officer responsible for the Savali-Public Relations Division of the Ministry.

He will also assume the position of Editor in Chief of the Savali.
