The Samoan government says 20 doctors from New Zealand are scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks to carry out heart operations.

The government has also announced that the commission of enquiry into the doctors' strike is to be given another two weeks to complete its work.

The strike is into its fourth week as doctors demand a higher starting salary.

The health minister, Mulitalo Siafausa Vui, says emergency support systems have been coping well.
