The Fiji Labour Party is planning to field more indigenous candidates in next year's general election.

The deputy Labour leader, Poseci Bune, has told Radio Legend many indigenous people of high calibre including some currently serving public servants have applied to contest the Fijian seats.

Mr Bune says the final decision will be made after their coalition talks with Ratu Epeli Ganilau's National Alliance and the United People's Party headed by the former opposition leader, Mick Beddoes.

Mr Bune says they could come to an arrangement whereby they support one another's candidates in various seats.

Meanwhile, the ruling SDL party says it will be fielding more ethnic Indian candidates in the election.
