Samoa and American Samoa have highlighted their desire for co-operation in trade and tourism at the Joint Samoa Trade Fair in Pago Pago.

More than 60 businesses in the two countries are exhibiting locally made goods and services during the three day exhibition at Lee Auditorium, Utulei.

Samoa's Minister of Trade Commerce and Tourism, Hans-Joachim Keil, said tourism and trade are the springboard for cooperation between the two sides.

"We hope that they've learnt something from us and we also made discussions that we need to work together and any other programmes that they have in tourism that we will be able to travel together and work as one. So that's a good beginning. And just a personal request from myself, that we can work together and resolve the immigration issue."

Meanwhile, the American Samoa Chamber of Commerce and the Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters have formalised their partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding last night.
