Indian firm in talks to build private hospital in Fiji

An India-based company, the Apollo Hospital Group, is negotiating to build a state-of-the-art private hospital near Lautoka in Fiji.

The Fiji Times reports that this has been disclosed by the opposition leader, Mahendra Chaudhry, who says he had talks with the head of Apollo Group, Dr Prathap Reddy, while in India recently.

The hospital could be in operation within three years and offer services for which people currently have to travel overseas, including increasingly to India.

The Apollo Hospital Group has already a selected a two member team to head the US$60 million project which has attracted has wide support in Lautoka with land set aside for its for its construction.
