Education officials in Solomon Islands are checking reports that secondary school exam papers are available for sale in the capital, Honiara.

The National Examination Unit in the Ministry of Education is asking the public, especially form five students who may have bought this year's examination papers to report or show the papers to the authorities.

Solomons radio quotes the acting director of the unit, Adrian Alamu, says this is the only way to verify reports that the exam papers have been leaked to some students before the examination started on Monday.

A man in Honiara is reportedly selling the papers for the equivalent of seven US dollars.
