Cooks parliament to adjourn for burial of prime minister's wife

The Cook Islands parliament is expected to adjourn today to allow members of parliament to accompany the prime minister Jim Marurai, to Mangaia for the burial of his late wife.

Tuaine Marurai died in New Zealand last week after a long illness.

Her body arrived in the country yesterday escorted by Mr Marurai, who flew to New Zealand on Friday.

She lay in state at the Mangaia hostel and was taken to her home for the last time yesterday evening.
